Opening Greeting for Our March 16, 2012 Sale
Dear Friends,
Welcome to our 47th Annual Production Sale. There are more extreme top end bulls than in any bull crop we have produced. The
bulls are primarily cataloged by actual weight and hip height. You will find outstanding individuals throughout the sale. The
differences in size are primarily a function of birth date and age of dam. The bulls will weigh about 100 pounds less than in past
years. We fed a lot less grain and the ADG shows it. However, the bulls still gained enough for us to identify the differences
between them. Most of the bulls will still weigh over 1200 pounds by sale day.
Once again, we are featuring sons of three great herd sires - Sitz Upward 307R, Sitz Alliance 431N, and RR 2418 Hero 0616.
These bulls have the same phenotype - they look alike. Genetically, each has different strengths. In our breeding program, we have
been crossing and back-crossing the three pedigrees to develop cows that look alike and perform alike. We have added one new
herd sire for this crop. We purchased KG Retail Value 8248 at KG's 2010 Sale. In our opinion, he was head and shoulders above
the rest of their bulls. He goes back to old Bando and EXT genetics.
We invite you to visit our ranch. We don't even own a creep feeder. When we say that are cattle are functional, look at how we run
them. They have to hustle to make a living and they don't get pampered. No female on this ranch ever receives a mouthful of grain.
They have to produce on a forage diet.
There are a handful of known genetic defects in the Angus breed. The Angus Association is to be commended for investing the
research dollars to develop DNA tests for them. Progressive breeders are testing all potential carriers for these defects. You can be
sure that in this sale any potential carriers have been tested free of the defect.
We look forward to seeing all our old friends at the sale and hope to make a lot of new ones. We'll again have displays in the sale
barn from some of our friends and suppliers. Plan to be with us sale day and we'll feed you a great lunch. If you get over our way
before the sale, the cattle are available any time. We would love to talk cattle with you.

Bob Loucks, and Kristine Marxer
